Historic Enrollment Milestone: Pennsylvania Institute of Technology Welcomes Largest Incoming Class in 71-Year History

MEDIA, PA, October 21, 2024 – The Pennsylvania Institute of Technology (P.I.T.) proudly announces a record-breaking milestone in the institution’s rich history: the largest incoming class since its inception in 1953. This fall, P.I.T. warmly welcomes 342 new students, marking a significant 44% increase from last fall’s enrollment of 238 students, cementing a testament to the institute’s 71-year history. This surge in new students contributes to the total fall enrollment at the college reaching 811, also the largest in school history, further highlighting P.I.T.’s growing appeal and commitment to providing quality education. 

“Today marks a historic moment for our institution,” stated Laura Blomgren, V.P. of Enrollment Management at P.I.T. “It is with great pride and excitement that I announce the largest incoming class for our fall term that began on October 7—the biggest since we opened our doors in 1953. This milestone is a testament to the hard work of our staff and faculty and the trust students place in our mission to empower students to achieve success. We have welcomed these talented individuals to our campus and are committed to supporting their success in every way possible. I look forward to watching them walk across the stage at graduation!” 99% of this diverse cohort are receiving financial aid, showcasing the institute’s dedication to making education accessible and affordable. 

This unprecedented enrollment signifies not only growth in numbers but also a burgeoning belief in P.I.T.’s mission to deliver personalized, career-focused, and affordable education. P.I.T. celebrates its diverse incoming student body, drawing individuals from 9 different states, with 70% identifying as Black, Asian, American Indian, and Hispanic, reflecting a commitment to fostering an inclusive and multicultural environment.
