Business Administration Technology (A.S.)
Business Administration Technology (BUS) teaches students fundamental concepts and skills in business. Students will become proficient in business office operations such as payroll, accounts payable and accounts receivable, basic bookkeeping and business office practices.
Students enrolled in the program are preparing either for career entry positions or are seeking additional skills and education to advance in their current careers. Graduates will become successful and productive employees ready to enter the business world immediately upon graduation, or to pursue a Baccalaureate Degree in Business Administration.
Graduates may be offered positions such as:
- Accounting Assistants
- Bookkeepers
- Customer Service Representatives
- Supervisors
- Manager Trainees
Business Administration Technology graduates are able to:
- Develop a working knowledge of Payroll, Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable.
- Interpret common accounting documents.
- Use spreadsheet software to handle accounting tasks and analyses.
- Use the principles of supervision in performing first-level management duties.
- Understand the scope of business and basic management principles.
- Develop an understanding of office dynamics.
- Analyze and resolve problems involving financial statement comparisons.
- Interpret financial information ordinarily used in first-level management.
- Analyze and resolve problems common to entry-level management.
- Perform successfully in a traditional or automated office.
- Use Microsoft Windows operating system.
